Welcome
Ronald McDonald House, Bristol is an independent charity which provides Home from Home accommodation, free of charge, to the families of critically ill children receiving care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
When a child is very ill, they may need to travel away from home to receive the treatment that they require. Having a child who requires medical care away from home can be a very stressful experience;
imagine being in a strange city, miles from home, with nowhere to sleep and without the support of your family and loved ones around you. Our aim is to keep families together during what is probably one of the most stressful times of their lives.
We cannot do this without your help.

The Facilities
Ronald McDonald House, Bristol has all the comforts that you would expect to find in your own home and more. The house comprises of sixteen en suite bedrooms, three fully equipped kitchens, a dining room, a laundry room, two lounges, and a beautifully landscaped garden.
The communal nature of the facilities allows families who are going through a similar experience to meet and support each other, while the bedrooms are spacious enough to allow families to enjoy their privacy in comfort.
Above all, we offer parents a place to gain respite from the stressful environment of the hospital. By offering this facility, we are offering a place where the entire family can stay together, free of charge and close to the hospital: helping families support each other and their ill child in the best possible way.
How we Began
Ronald McDonald House opened its doors in November 2002. We were funded initially by donations from the Ronald McDonald House Charities, the United Bristol Healthcare Trust and The Grand Appeal. We also receive incredibly generous support from the British Kidney Patient Association.
We are now a fully independent charity relying on fundraising and donations to meet our annual running costs in excess of £100,000 a year.

A lot of our funds come from people like you organising fundraising events and collecting money for us. We are always open to new ideas and opportunities to raise much needed funds. If you have an idea, or can donate your time to organising an event we would love to hear from you.

You can help us in a number of ways; through volunteering, attending one of our events, organising an event of your own or making a donation. Your support is what makes all the difference to the families who come to us in need.
Volunteering
With only one full time and three part-time members of staff we need all the help we can get; both to support the families who stay with us, and to ensure the accommodation of future families through raising much needed funds to keep the house going.
