Last week I did my fortnightly visit to the Children’s Hospital. It was an uplifting morning with several families sharing good news of their children. It is wonderful when this happens. A lot of healing goes on in the Hospital, but it can take a very long time which is very challenging for the families, especially when there are siblings involved. The families show such courage and it is a privilege to get to know them and to hear their stories in such a difficult stage of their lives.
My role is to see if there is anything that they need that we can provide, whilst also checking on their well-being at such a stressful time. I ask if they are remembering to eat, trying to get some sleep etc., but sometimes they just need a listening ear. They are so grateful for RMHB and constantly tell me that they could not manage without it. It is a short break away from the hospital for them, which can be so valuable at such a traumatic time.
It is wonderful to meet the families and some I will never forget.
Thank you everyone for all that you do to ease people through a really difficult and challenging stage of their lives. It is really appreciated.
