How to get a room
We appreciate that having a child in hospital is a very difficult and stressful time and we do our best to accommodate as many families as we can. We have found that it is difficult to reserve bedrooms in advance of a family’s arrival due to the high demand for our services and the unpredictability of how long families stay with us. We find that our allocation procedure works well and helps us to ensure that all 10 wards at the hospital receive fair treatment from us.
We work by a referral system at RMHB which can only be sent once your child has been admitted to the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. We recommend asking a nurse or ward clerk on the ward to send us a request as soon as possible when you arrive at the hospital. If we have availability then we will offer you a room straight away and if we do not have availability on that day we will be able to add you to our waiting list. We will then call the ward when a room becomes available. As you can imagine, it is very rare for us not to have 100% occupancy and we often have a waiting list.
Once you have a room at the house it is completely free of charge and you can stay with us as long as your child is in the BRHC If you have any questions please check the FAQ’s section of our website. You can always call us on 0117 9081375 as well.
