Huge thanks and congratulations to all our August fundraisers! 77 Nights of free accommodation will be provided to families in need thanks to your fundraising in August 🎉
Charlotte’s RunsIn August Charlotte took on her 1st of 5 runs with the Torbay City to Sea Marathon! Charlotte has set herself the challenge of 5 runs this year to help support our charity in memory of her niece Arabella. “We are so lucky in the South West to have this amazing facility, but living in Torquay Bristol is quite far away when your baby is poorly and accommodation in Bristol isn’t cheap!
Joe and Gemma were lucky enough to have the support of the Ronald McDonald House Bristol on many of their stays. Myself and family members also stayed at the house which allowed us to spend precious time with Arabella and meant Gemma could have some family support at point when Joe had to return to work throughout the week.
The House provides a home from home environment just a short walk from the hospital, with a direct phone line in each of the rooms to the hospital. They provide invaluable support to parents who have children staying within the hospital.
When Arabella sadly passed away in 2018 we were thinking of ways to keep her memory alive and also to thank those that supported throughout her short life. This is where the half marathon idea sprang from!”
Bideford’s Summer Raffle Team Bideford were busy this month with their summer raffle, helping to raise vital funds to support the families that stay with us. Bradley’s Midsomer Show Bradley went to the Midsomer Show and used this as an opportunity to raise both funds and the profile of the charity, with sheep Eeyore getting involved too! Aaron’s Tough Mudder Aaron and his team took on their first Tough Mudder in August for our house and families. Jamie’s 31 Runs in 31 Days In August, Jamie set himself the challenge of running every day for our home from home! He ran an incredible total of 170.3 miles in just short of 22 hours. “An amazing charity and organisation that supports families when they need them most! Last time when team Orchestra went up to visit it was amazing to see a place which visitor could easily call home for the duration of their stay!”
